This expansive 150,000-tsubo stroll garden uses Takeo's symbol—the dramatic cliff face of Mifuneyama—as a borrowed landscape. Built in the late Edo period by Norio Nabeshima, the feudal lord of Takeo, the gardens showcase seasonal flowering trees and shrubs throughout the grounds: cherry blossoms, azaleas, wisteria, and autumn leaves paint the landscape in different hues with each passing season. The reflection of the cliffs and flowers in the pond's surface creates a scene as beautiful as a painting—every angle offers a picturesque view. The gardens have also gained recognition as a venue for digital art exhibitions, opening new ways to experience these historic gardens. Walking through in the crisp morning air, you'll enjoy the luxury of hearing only birdsong and flowing water.
