An ancient shrine situated in the heart of Kanzaki town, it is said that Hakata's renowned Kushida Shrine was granted as a branch shrine from this main sanctuary, which has long been revered as the original. Within the grounds stands the sacred camphor tree 'Koto no Kusu,' said to have taken root from a placed koto (Japanese harp), and is deeply connected to the origins of Kanzaki's place name. The long approach and spacious grounds are especially quiet in the early morning hours; walking through the trees in the light filtering between them naturally centers your spirit as your journey begins. Offer prayers for a safe day ahead in this tutelary shrine forest beloved by local people, then proceed toward the Yayoi village.
Tips
In the morning, there are few worshippers, making it peaceful for prayer. If you wish to receive a seal (goshuin), be aware that the shrine office has specific operating hours, so arrive with time to spare if this is important to you. The grounds have gravel paths, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Approximately 45 minutes. Early morning when the air is crisp and crowds are minimal is best for a peaceful visit.
