Kitayama Lake, created by a dam built on the upper Kase River, is a scenic lakeside beauty surrounded by deep green mountains. Tips

The lakeside has limited shade, so a hat is recommended for comfort. It's easier to start walking from facilities at the Citizens' Forest, which offers bike rentals. The return route follows winding mountain roads, so it's safer to depart before dark.

Approximately 45 minutes required. Late afternoon when the western sun shimmers on the lake's surface is ideal for a lakeside walk.
