A historic Chinese restaurant known as the birthplace of Champon, Nagasaki's signature noodle dish. According to tradition, the first-generation owner from China created Champon based on noodle dishes from his homeland, generously incorporating vegetables and seafood. Located in an impressive, pagoda-like building along the Oura waterfront, the top-floor observation restaurant commands sweeping views of Nagasaki Harbor and Inasa Mountain. Enjoy authentic Champon with its milky-white broth, chewy noodles, and mountain of toppings while watching ships traverse the harbor. The building also houses a small museum documenting the history of Champon, and a visit after your meal deepens your appreciation of this dish's story.
Tips
A popular restaurant with lines during lunch hours, so aim for right after opening or after the lunch rush. Reservations are not accepted, so plan for wait time. Seats by the window offer exceptional harbor views—ask to be seated there if possible. Trying their sara-udon (fried noodles) is also recommended for comparison.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. To avoid lines, aim for right after opening or after 1 PM
