This museum is housed in the former residence of the Hirado clan's Matsuura family, standing impressively above dignified stone steps and walls characteristic of a samurai mansion. Inside, the museum displays armor and swords that belonged to the Matsuura family, daimyo furnishings, and artifacts from the era of nanban (Southern Barbarian) trade with the Dutch and English, allowing visitors to trace Hirado's history through the life of the Matsuura family—a clan that flourished through maritime trade. On the grounds, the tea house Kanyuntei (閑雲亭) offers a taste of matcha tea (additional fee) prepared in the Shinshin-ryu (鎮信流) style of samurai tea ceremony passed down through the Matsuura family, offering a refined moment befitting the lord's former seat.

Tips
