Hell's Showcase: Six Individual Hells from Block 1 to Block 6

According to legend, this hell takes its name from a local custom where the Ujigami (tutelary deity) Kamado Hachiman Shrine used the hell's steam to cook offerings during festivals. Six different hells are lined up within the grounds, numbered Block 1 through Block 6, each with its own distinct character: a cobalt blue pool, a bubbling mud pool, and a pool whose color reportedly changes from time to time. A red demon statue standing atop a kamado (traditional stove) is a classic photo spot. The grounds feature entertaining staff demonstrations where they blow into the steam to intensify the eruption, plus a drinkable hot spring and foot baths—all of which make this a fun area to compare the individual personalities of the hells at a brisk pace.

Tips

The route is compact and easy to navigate. Staff demonstrations and explanations occur at irregular intervals, so follow crowds when you spot them gathering. The drinkable hot spring is quite hot, so sip it gradually. Many of the experiences are free, making it easy to keep children entertained throughout.
