A red brick Western-style building standing near central Oita's shopping district. Designed by renowned architect Tatano Kingo, who also designed Tokyo Station's Marunouchi facade and the Bank of Japan headquarters, the design of red brick walls accented with white granite bands exemplifies the distinctive "Tatano style." Long used as a bank, it has been transformed into a vibrant landmark where visitors can freely explore. The bright interior renovation contrasts beautifully with the sturdy exterior, making it an ideal place to rest while strolling through the shopping district.

Tips

For a full view of the exterior, photograph from across the street. The café inside looks tempting, but save room for lunch at Kotsu-Kotsu An, so stick to just a drink here. Walking through the nearby shopping arcade enhances the experience.
