Lunch with Sea Views: Mozuku Soba and Tempura

About this spot

A sea station at the midpoint of the marine road, overlooking the road park. "Ayahashi" means "beautiful bridge," and the building is shaped like a traditional Ryukyu trading ship, the Mārran vessel. Inside, a dining area and shops gather around Uruma's specialty: mozuku soba and tempura rich with ocean aroma draw crowds. The shop brims with island souvenirs—brown sugar, salt, and more. Upstairs, the Sea Culture Museum offers free learning about how this region's people have lived with the ocean. After eating, descend to the beach just outside and enjoy a shoreside stroll—an oasis during your drive.

Tips

Lunch hours draw tourists and drivers; arriving a bit early is recommended. Mozuku tempura is also available for takeout—eating on the beach while gazing at the sea is delightful. Save souvenir shopping for after lunch to avoid bulky bags.

Best time to visit

Plan about 1 hour 15 minutes. An early lunch before noon avoids crowds and lets you relax.
