White Island Terrace with Airplanes Skimming Overhead and Sea Views
About this spot
A resort mall on the western slope of Seifa Island (瀬長島), connected to Naha Airport by a causeway over the sea, with white buildings tiered down the hillside. The white-washed Mediterranean-inspired terrace is lined with cafés, sweets shops, Okinawan cuisine, and miscellaneous goods, and every seat offers unobstructed views of the emerald-green sea. Because Seifa Island sits just beside Naha Airport's runway, you can watch planes descend almost directly overhead—a thrilling spectacle that excites even non-aviation enthusiasts as you see the belly of the aircraft up close. Begin your Okinawan day with a pleasant morning café session overlooking the sea.
Tips
The outdoor terrace has stairs and slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes. On windy days, secure your hat to prevent it from blowing away. Aircraft approach direction changes with wind conditions, so they may depart from the opposite side on some days. The sun is intense, so sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1.5 hours. Early morning just after opening is less crowded, with beautiful light and refreshing sea breezes.
