A Grand Panorama of Miyako Blue Overlooking Maehama Beach
About this spot
Perched atop a hill on Kima Island after crossing the Kima Ohashi Bridge, this uniquely designed observation tower mimics a fairy-tale palace. From its top floor, you can take in sweeping views of the Kima Ohashi Bridge you just crossed and the white sandy stretch of Yonaha Maehama Beach across the strait. Coral reef waters spread beneath, with layers upon layers of blues—from shallow emerald to deep offshore indigo—creating a prime vantage point for experiencing Miyako Blue. Admission is free, and this stunning view is yours simply by climbing the stairs. Seeing the beach you walked from the opposite shore reveals anew its brilliant whiteness and impressive scale.
Tips
Parking is limited, so be prepared to share spaces during busy times. Access to the tower is by stairs only; on windy days, hold onto hats and small items. The island has scattered cafes, so rest here if time permits.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. In bright daylight, the opposite shore's white sand glows even more brilliantly.
