A Cape Dividing Two Seas and 360-Degree Lighthouse Vistas

A slender promontory extending approximately 2 kilometers from Miyakojima's eastern tip, dividing the Pacific Ocean and East China Sea, this scenic landmark is designated as a National Natural Monument. Walking the pathway flanked by steep cliffs and deep blue waters, you'll encounter towering uplifted coral formations scattered in the sea and white trumpet lilies blooming seasonally. The white Heian-na Cape Lighthouse at the point is open to visitors; spiraling stairs lead to a 360-degree panorama of unobstructed open ocean. The differing wave conditions visible on either side of the cape are a unique sight born of these two seas meeting. In the soft evening light, the ocean displays a beauty befitting the day's grand finale.
Tips
The cape is windswept; secure your hat firmly to prevent it from blowing away. The lighthouse's spiral staircase is somewhat steep, so wear comfortable walking shoes. An admission donation is required to climb the lighthouse. Plan to return before dusk.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. The late afternoon light is soft, and the cape's contours are most beautiful as shadows deepen.
