About this spot

This large ward-run park spreads across the northwest of Itabashi Ward, a lush green area that retains much of the natural character of the Musashino Plateau. Walking trails wind through the coppice woods, and stepping into the shade offers relief even from the strong summer sun. The wide lawn plaza is an open space where children can run around freely, making it popular with families with young kids. The park is divided into several areas, and its scale is just right for a warm-up stroll before the fireworks. It also connects on foot to the adjoining Akatsuka Tameike Park, letting you ease into the afternoon with a relaxed walk through greenery.

Tips

It's about a 15-20 minute walk from Nishi-Takashimadaira Station or Takashimadaira Station on the Toei Mita Line, or you can take a local bus. Admission is free. Walking the coppice-woods route, which has plenty of shade, makes strolling relatively comfortable even in hot weather. Be sure to bring drinks with you in advance.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. The early afternoon, with plenty of shade, is the easiest time to stroll.
