Check the Itabashi Ward official announcement regarding rain cancellation both before and on the day. The nearest station and bus stops become extremely congested after the show ends. Rather than leaving immediately after the finale, enjoy the lingering atmosphere on the riverbed for a while, then head home with a time delay for smoother travel. Some sections of the return route will be dark, so use your smartphone's light.
