About this spot

A park developed on the site of Tsu Castle, originally built by Oda Nobukatsu (younger brother of Oda Nobunaga) and later extensively renovated by Toudo Takatori. The high stone walls and inner moat remain well-preserved from the original castle, and a bronze statue of Toudo Takatori stands in the ruins of the main enclosure. The park is well-shaded with trees and remains relatively cool even during hot summer afternoons. It is a place where one can truly experience how Tsu City came to be, and is a fitting serene starting point for sightseeing on the fireworks festival day. Best of all, admission is free, making it an appealing spot for families.

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu/JR Tsu Station. Admission is free and parking is available. The promenade along the stone walls is paved and easy to walk even with a baby carriage. The next destination, Tsu Kannon, is conveniently located about 5 minutes on foot away.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour required. In the early afternoon, there are few tourists, allowing you to leisurely view the stone walls and moats.
