Enjoy midsummer coolness in a gorge with clear streams and waterfalls of all sizes

About this spot

A nationally designated scenic site and natural monument located in northern Nabari City. The hiking trail along the Akame River (赤目川) follows approximately 48 waterfalls over about 4 kilometers, and even in midsummer remains cool with a refreshing forest atmosphere. Impressive waterfalls like Senjutsu Falls (千手滝), Nunui Falls (布曳滝), and Ninaitate Falls (荷担滝) appear in succession, and the gorge's beauty with moss-covered rocks and crystal-clear streams captivates both children and adults. The full course takes 3 to 4 hours, so we recommend the first-half course (approximately 2 hours round trip) from the entrance past the main waterfalls for a relaxing experience.

名張川の河川敷から打ち上げられる約4,000発の花火が、名張の夏の夜空をダイナミックに彩ります。川沿いの開けた空間は視界が広く、大輪の花火を正面からのびのびと見上げられます。川面に映り込む花火の光が揺れる様子も、川辺ならではの美しい眺めです。山あいの盆地に位置する名張では、花火の音が周囲に響いて体に伝わり、迫力が増して感じられます。地元の人々と一緒ににぎわう河川敷で、1日の締めくくりにふさわしい夏の夜を楽しみましょう。

Tips

開催時間は当日発表の情報で必ず確認してください(時間未定のため)。荒天時の開催可否は名張市または大会主催者の公式情報で確認を。終了後は近鉄名張駅方面への道が大変混み合うため、フィナーレ後は河川敷で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差で移動するのがおすすめです。帰り道の足元が暗い場所もあるため、スマートフォンのライト機能を活用しましょう。

Tips

About 10 minutes by Mie Kotsu Bus (三重交通バス) from Kintetsu Akame-Guchi Station, or about 8 minutes by taxi. An entrance fee is required at the hiking trail entrance (approximately 500 yen for adults, free to approximately 200 yen for children; fees may vary). The rocks along the riverside path are wet and slippery, so sneakers or athletic shoes are essential. Sandals are dangerous and should be avoided. Check the bus and taxi schedules in advance for your return to Nabari City.
