The Miyazu Toro Nagashi Fireworks Festival (宮津燈籠流し花火大会) is held together with the toro nagashi ceremony that sends off the spirits of Obon, a seasonal tradition that closes out summer in Miyazu. From 19:50 to 20:35 on Sunday, August 16, 2026, about 3,000 fireworks are launched from Miyazu Bay off Shimazaki Park (島崎公園). The sight of countless lantern lights drifting on the water's surface overlapping with fireworks blooming in the night sky has a charm special even among seaside fireworks festivals. Fireworks enjoyed with the launch sounds echoing across Miyazu Bay, the scent of the sea, and the sound of the waves combine the scale and quiet unique to a port town in Tango (丹後), surrounded by mountains. The moment the finale's large fireworks light up Miyazu Bay is the climax of this day.

Afterward, nearby roads and parking lots get very crowded, so if you're driving, a staggered departure is recommended. Check the walking route back toward Miyazu Station (宮津駅) ahead of time.
