About this spot

A beach along the sandbar separating Kumihama Bay (久美浜湾) from the Sea of Japan, with clear, shallow water and a shore of white sand and green pines. It is also known as one of the Kansai region's finest long beaches, stretching about 8 kilometers to Hamazume Yuhigaura Beach (浜詰夕日ヶ浦海水浴場) in the east. Once you have spread out a leisure sheet to claim your spot, take your time filling up on the meal you brought. As the sun sets and the color of the sky changes, anticipation for the fireworks will steadily build.

Tips

Since the number of viewers grows and gets crowded from the evening, arrive by around 17:00 if you want to secure a good spot. Shops and food stalls around the venue get crowded, so buy your drinks and food early. Mosquitoes are common at this hour, so do not forget insect repellent. Also check the times of the return car or bus in advance.

Best time to visit

Allow about 2 hours; the stillness of the bay in the evening calm and the shifting sky make this the most soothing time of the day
