At dusk, Kumihama Bay becomes still as glass during the calm evening breeze, when the water surface mirrors the gradually changing colors of the sky. The play of light reflecting on the bay as darkness falls is the perfect prelude to the fireworks. Once you've spread out your leisure sheet and secured your spot, lay out the meal you purchased at the roadside station and enjoy a leisurely dinner. If food stalls are operating, you can also sample local cuisine. As the sun sets and the bay turns indigo, anticipation for the fireworks steadily builds. Use this time to check on restrooms and belongings, completing all preparations before the show begins for peace of mind.

2026年8月9日(日)19時30分から1時間、久美浜湾の水上から打ち上げられる約1,500発の海上花火大会です。久美浜湾は日本海と砂州に隔てられた静かな内湾のため、波が穏やかで水面が落ち着いており、打ち上がった花火がそのまま湾面に映り込む「逆さ花火」が楽しめるのが最大の特徴です。山あいに囲まれた湾内で炸裂音が響き渡り、都市部の花火とは異なる静謐な迫力があります。発数は多くありませんが、一発ごとの大輪がゆっくりと水面に広がる様子は見応え十分。夏の丹後の夜を締めくくる、忘れられない1時間です。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は京丹後市の公式発表で確認してください。会場周辺は終了後に道路が混雑するため、花火終了後は少し浜辺で余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるため小さなライトを用意しておきましょう。帰りの車のルートと駐車場の出庫順も事前に確認を。

Tips

Crowds increase and venues become congested from evening onward, so aim to arrive on-site by around 5 p.m. to secure a good spot. Food stalls and vendors around the venue become crowded, so purchase drinks and food early. Mosquitoes are abundant during this time, so don't forget insect repellent spray. Confirm the departure times of your return transportation in advance.
