A marine fireworks festival with about 1,500 shells launched from the surface of Kumihama Bay (久美浜湾) over one hour, from 19:30 on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Since Kumihama Bay is a calm inlet separated from the Sea of Japan by a sandbar, the waves are gentle and the water's surface stays still, and its biggest feature is that you can enjoy 'upside-down fireworks,' where the launched fireworks are reflected directly on the bay's surface. The booms echo through the bay, ringed by mountains, giving a quiet intensity distinct from fireworks in the city. The shell count is not large, but each burst's great bloom slowly spreading across the water is more than worth watching. It is an unforgettable hour that closes out a summer night in Tango.

Tips

Please check whether the event will proceed in case of bad weather through Kyotango City's official announcements. Roads around the venue get congested after it ends, so it is recommended to enjoy the afterglow on the beach for a while before heading out. It gets dark underfoot, so prepare a small light. Also check your return car route and the parking lot's exit order in advance.
