Enshrined in the center of Karatsu City, this is Karatsu's chief guardian shrine. Every November, "Karatsu Kunchi" (唐津くんち) is designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, and is nationally known for its elaborate festival floats parading through the city. The shrine grounds have a tranquil atmosphere amid the castle town's quiet, and after worship, the nearby "Hikiyama Exhibition Hall" (曳山展示場) allows you to view full-scale Karatsu Kunchi floats up close. Stopping by leisurely in the afternoon before the fireworks and experiencing Karatsu's festival culture will heighten the festive mood for the evening celebration even more.

九州花火大会は、松浦川を舞台に唐津市体育の森から松浦川運動広場にかけての区間で開催されます。川の上に広がる夜空に打ち上がる花火は川面に光を映し、秋の澄んだ空気の中で鮮やかな色彩がひときわ美しく見えます。秋開催ならではの涼しい夜風の中で、川のせせらぎと大音響が重なる体験は夏とはまた違う味わいです。唐津の夜空を彩る光の競演をご家族で楽しんでください。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は唐津市または大会公式の発表で事前に確認してください。終了直後は周辺道路と公共交通が混雑します。終了後は少し時間をおいてから移動すると帰りがスムーズです。帰りの電車・バスの時刻は事前に調べておき、最終の時刻も確認しておきましょう。河川敷は足元が暗いため小さなライトがあると安全です。

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Karatsu Castle (唐津城). Worship at the shrine grounds is free. At the nearby Karatsu Kunchi Hikiyama Exhibition Hall (唐津くんち曳山展示場), you can view actual floats for an admission fee. The walking route between Karatsu Station, Karatsu Castle, and this location doubles as a good exploration route of the central area.
