Michi-no-Eki Fukura (道の駅福良 - Fukura Roadside Station)
Flow of the course
About this spot
A roadside station located on the shores of Fukura Harbor (福良港) overlooking the Naruto Strait (鳴門海峡), serving as a tourism and dining hub for southern Awaji Island. Local specialties making use of the blessings of the Naruto Strait—takoyaki, sea bream rice, wakame seaweed, and more—are abundant, and the local way to enjoy them is to take them out and eat by the harbor just outside. The gift shop features plenty of Awaji Island onions and processed seafood products. With a panoramic view of Fukura Bay from inside the building and the whirlpool cruise boarding point nearby, dining and sightseeing routes are conveniently compact.
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Keino Matsubara. Parking is spacious. The whirlpool cruise departs from the observation boat landing adjacent to the roadside station, so it's efficient to complete your meal and souvenir shopping before boarding. In summer, it gets crowded, so allow extra time.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. The food corner gets busy during lunch hours, so arriving before the rush is recommended.
