The area around Hakodate Port's Green Island, tonight's fireworks launch site, is perfect for securing your viewing spot and completing dinner before the event. From the waterside promenade, the bay opens up before you, and as dusk approaches, the Hakodate Port harbor basin takes on an orange hue, presenting a beautiful sight. On the day of the fireworks festival, food stalls may set up around the venue, so gather your dinner and light snacks and spread out your leisure sheet. Enjoy the time slowly as the sun sets and the sky turns indigo while feeling the sea breeze. Since the area becomes crowded just before the show, it's essential to secure your spot early.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from the red brick warehouse area. Arrange food and beverages in advance around the Bay Area, or use food stalls and convenience stores early (spots near the venue run out quickly and sell out fast). Along the harbor, sea winds can strengthen at night, so keep a layer easily accessible in your bag. Check the location of restrooms while it's still light.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes required. The charm of this course is the transition from sunset over the port to the changing colors of the sky.
