Enjoy the Spectacular Fireworks Display of Approximately 10,000 Bursts at the Kushiro River Mouth
About this spot
The Kushiro Tairyō Donpaku Fireworks Festival, held near the mouth of the Kushiro River, features approximately 10,000 fireworks and is one of Hokkaido's most spectacular large-scale fireworks displays. The light of the fireworks reflected on the river's surface creates a double-layered spectacular view, and thanks to the open location near the sea at the river mouth, the fireworks spread across the entire night sky. Kushiro's clear September night sky has high transparency, making the firework colors appear vivid and brilliant. The approximately 10,000 bursts launching continuously toward the finale are breathtaking in scale, creating a grand finale befitting Hokkaido's autumn evening.

Viewing is available from the riverbank and surrounding plazas near the river mouth. Since the surrounding area becomes crowded before the show begins, secure a viewing spot at least 30 minutes before the 7 PM start time. Kushiro's September nights can drop to around 10 degrees Celsius, so warm clothing is essential. After the show ends, nearby roads may experience traffic congestion, so if driving, plan to leave at a different time. Also check public transportation's final departure times in advance.
Best time to visit
7 PM onwards at the scheduled start time. It's recommended to secure your viewing spot at least 30 minutes before the start.
