Next stop: Look out over the town from the residence and garden where Tokugawa Akitake livedAbout this spot
A shrine in the city center of Matsudo that has walked alongside the daily life of this land as it flourished as a post town. Though it sits right in the middle of town, the sounds outside recede once you pass through the torii gate. The grounds are modest in size, which is just right for families with small children to look around in a short time. Checking the manners at the purification basin and the order of worship together with your child makes for a small lesson in itself. Stop by at the start of the day, settle your mind, and then move on.
Tips
Parking space is limited, so using a parking lot around Matsudo Station and walking is more reliable. The grounds are a place of worship, so tell children beforehand not to run around. On summer mornings the tree shade feels pleasant, and visiting before the sun climbs high is recommended. The hours of the amulet office may vary from day to day.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. The morning, when the sunshine is gentle, is the easiest time to spend here
