About this spot

One of five green spaces making up the Kasai Buffer Green Belt (河西緩衝緑地), which runs in a band through western Wakayama City, this is a long, narrow park roughly 29,000 square meters in area and about 400 meters long. Besides tennis courts, a softball field, and a gateball court, it has a playground plaza with a slide and swings, a central plaza, a lawn plaza, and a rose garden, with benches dotted along its paths. In the evening, the sea breeze blows through and feels cool, letting you spread out a sheet and wait for the show over dinner. Let the scent of the sea build your anticipation for the fireworks.

Tips

It's reassuring to pick up dinner early at Wakayama Marina City (和歌山マリーナシティ) or a nearby convenience store. Stalls and convenience stores around the venue get very crowded right around when the fireworks start. Claiming a spot earlier makes it easier to secure a good position, so arriving at the green space by the 5 PM hour is recommended. Check the location of the restrooms while it's still light.
