A vast rocky platform on the north side of Shirahama Beach, formed as sandstone was eroded by waves. True to its name "Senjoujiki" (thousand-mat stone), the undulating rock surface spreads seaward like thousands of tatami mats laid out, and this unique landscape is designated as a National Scenic Site. The sight of waves entering and receding through the rock's crevices never gets old, and for children, it becomes a natural playground for jumping and exploring across the rocks. Before dusk, the rock surface glows in shades of orange, naturally building anticipation for tonight's fireworks. Free to enter and easy to visit, it's one of Shirahama's signature scenic spots.

白浜を代表するビーチとして知られる白良浜は、オーストラリア・ホワイトヘブンビーチと姉妹浜の提携を結ぶほど白く細かい砂が特徴の美しい海岸です。SKY ART FESTIVAL花火大会の打ち上げ会場でもあり、この砂浜から約8,000発の花火が夏の夜空いっぱいに広がります。海面に映るきらめきと潮騒の音が重なる中で見上げる大輪の花火は、南紀白浜の夏旅の最高のクライマックスにふさわしい光景です。真っ白な砂と満天の星と花火が混ざり合う時間は、家族の夏の記憶に長く刻まれることでしょう。打ち上げ開始時間は当日の公式発表で確認してください。

Tips

白浜温泉街から徒歩圏内。開演前は砂浜が混み合うため、1時間前には場所を確保するのが理想です。砂浜はサンダルを脱いで入ることが多いため、荷物の管理に注意。終了後は周辺道路と駐車場が大変混雑するため、車の方は帰宅のタイミングに余裕を持って。荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、開催可否は大会公式の情報を当日確認してください。

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Sandangiwa, with parking available. When wet, the rocks become slippery, so wear shoes with good grip rather than sandals. On days with high waves, avoid getting near the rock edges. From here to Shirahama restaurants is about 5 minutes by car.
