This is the legendary site of 徐福 (徐福), for which the Kumano 徐福 Ten-Thousand Lanterns Festival fireworks are named. 徐福 was a Daoist sage commissioned by China's First Emperor Qin to seek the elixir of immortality and is said to have come to Japan and settled in the Shingu area. The park features a mausoleum and stone statue of 徐福, and serves as a spot to learn the origins of tonight's fireworks festival, adding depth to your day's journey through Kumano. Located in the central area of Shingu city, it forms a compact walking route with Hayatama Taisha and the castle ruins. Cool off in the quiet, green park while slowly building your anticipation for tonight's festival.

2026年8月13日(木)19時30分から21時まで、熊野川河川敷から約6,000発が打ち上がる熊野徐福万燈祭新宮花火大会です。熊野川の川幅を生かしたワイドな打ち上げは、川面に映る光の帯とともに迫力満点。大河・熊野川と熊野の山々を舞台にした自然のスケール感が、都市部の花火大会とは一線を画す感動を生み出します。徐福伝説と熊野の霊場文化を背景に持つ祭りの花火として、1日かけて熊野を巡ってきた1日の記憶と重なり合う、忘れられない夏の夜になるはずです。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は新宮市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺の道路と駐車場が大変混み合います。JR新宮駅利用の場合、終了後しばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。帰り道の足元は暗いため、小さなライトがあると安心。翌日8月14日が和歌山県の花火大会の多い時期のため、前後の交通手段も事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Shingu Castle Ruins, located in the city center. Free admission. If you explain to children the meaning of "Ten-Thousand Lanterns Festival" (万燈祭) in tonight's festival name, the evening fireworks will become an even more memorable experience. The walk to the evening dining area (around Shingu Station) is also within walking distance.
