About this spot

The castle ruins of the Shingu Domain, built in the early Edo period and designated as a National Historic Site (国の史跡). Also known by its alternate name "Okimi Castle" (沖見城), it is known for its well-preserved stone walls. Climbing the stone steps to the Tenshu Terrace opens up a panoramic view of the wide Kumano River valley below, tonight's fireworks venue, and even the distant Pacific Ocean. Accessible on foot from Hayatama Taisha, it is an excellent vantage point to locate the fireworks venue in advance. Developed as a castle ruins park with shaded benches where you can rest and leisurely take in Kumano's scenery.

2026年8月13日(木)19時30分から21時まで、熊野川河川敷から約6,000発が打ち上がる熊野徐福万燈祭新宮花火大会です。熊野川の川幅を生かしたワイドな打ち上げは、川面に映る光の帯とともに迫力満点。大河・熊野川と熊野の山々を舞台にした自然のスケール感が、都市部の花火大会とは一線を画す感動を生み出します。徐福伝説と熊野の霊場文化を背景に持つ祭りの花火として、1日かけて熊野を巡ってきた1日の記憶と重なり合う、忘れられない夏の夜になるはずです。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は新宮市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺の道路と駐車場が大変混み合います。JR新宮駅利用の場合、終了後しばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。帰り道の足元は暗いため、小さなライトがあると安心。翌日8月14日が和歌山県の花火大会の多い時期のため、前後の交通手段も事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. Free admission. The stone steps continue in succession, so comfortable walking shoes are essential. The view from the Tenshu Terrace is ideally positioned to confirm tonight's fireworks launch direction. In summer, the midday sun is strong, so bring a hat and remember to stay hydrated.
