About this spot

This course stop lets you walk the Hidaka River riverbed (日高川河川敷) — tonight's fireworks stage — while it's still daylight. Standing on the embankment and taking in the Hidaka River's gentle flow and the mountains on the far bank helps you picture the scale of sky where the fireworks will spread tonight. The riverside is lined with shade trees and grass, and a pleasant river breeze blows even on a summer afternoon. Scouting candidate viewing spots in advance makes claiming your place easier come evening. During the daytime of the festival, crowds are still thin, so you can stroll at a relaxed pace.

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Dojoji Temple, within walking distance of central Gobo. Parking fills up from evening onward on the day of the fireworks, so scouting it out in the early afternoon makes your evening move easier. Some spots offer little shade, so bring a parasol or hat for peace of mind.
