On the day of the fireworks festival, the plaza in front of the station starts buzzing early as food stalls and vendors set up, and the festival atmosphere builds. It's a great place to cool off in the lobby or rest area and take a breather before your afternoon sightseeing. The surrounding area also has a cluster of shops specializing in Konosu's famous hina dolls, letting you experience the city's other identity as “the town of hina dolls.” Since it also serves as a starting point for getting from the station to the festival venue, many families use it as a meeting spot for buses or pickups.
