About this spot

One of Saitama City's largest parks, spread around Lake Saiko, a regulating reservoir built on the Arakawa River. With its sprawling lawn and lakeside promenade, it's a beloved local spot for family picnics and strolls. The breeze off the lake feels wonderful, and you can stay cool in the shade even in summer. Simply strolling the promenade while taking in the lake view offers an openness that hardly feels like the outskirts of a city. It's within easy reach by car or bicycle of the Asaka Citizens' Festival venue, making it an ideal way to spend the daytime hours before the fireworks.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Kita-Asaka Station or Asakadai Station (JR Musashino Line / Tobu Tojo Line), or 15–20 minutes by bicycle along the road beside the Arakawa River. Paid parking is available. There's no permanent shop, so it's best to bring lunch with you. Restrooms are available throughout the park.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Around midday, the lawn feels especially pleasant, and the lakeside promenade isn't too crowded
