About this spot

The Kuromegawa River flows through Asaka City as part of the Arakawa river system, with a lush, tree-lined promenade running along both banks. Trees stretch their branches out over the water, letting you walk in cool shade even in summer. Benches are dotted along the riverside, so you can rest while you stroll. Walking the area near Asaka Central Park (朝霞中央公園), the venue for the Asaka Citizens' Festival, lets you feel the festival mood gradually build as evening approaches. As a promenade woven into locals' everyday lives, it offers a chance to experience the real, unpolished side of Asaka.

Tips

Within walking distance of Asaka Station. The path is nearly flat, making it easy walking even for young children. On summer afternoons, it's best to start your walk before the sun gets too strong. Stay hydrated regularly and stroll at a comfortable pace.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. The shady afternoon promenade is cool and makes a nice change of pace before heading to the venue in the evening
