Next stop: An early dinner set of pot-cooked Uonuma Koshihikari rice before the fireworksAbout this spot
This is the main venue for the Asaka Citizens' Festival 'Saikasai' (朝霞市民まつり「彩夏祭」). The city's largest park, with a spacious lawn and well-maintained promenades, fills with food stalls and vendors lining the grounds on festival day. Claim your spot early by spreading out your picnic sheet ahead of the fireworks, while enjoying the festival's lively energy. Multiple restrooms are set up throughout the park, so it's reassuring to check their locations before the show starts. Since the sky you look up at from the lawn becomes the fireworks' stage itself, aim for an open spot with as few obstructions as possible.
Tips
About 15 minutes on foot from Asaka Station (Tobu Tojo Line), or about 20 minutes on foot from Kita-Asaka Station (JR Musashino Line) or Asakadai Station (Tobu Tojo Line). Food stalls get crowded in the evening, so give yourself plenty of time to pick up a meal earlier. There are several convenience stores and restaurants nearby for restocking drinks, but lines grow long right before the show starts.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. Claiming your spot during this window lets you enjoy the evening's fireworks at ease
