About this spot

Inariyama Park (稲荷山公園), adjacent to Iruma Air Base (入間基地), is a park well known locally as a spot for watching the summer festival fireworks. It has a wide lawn plaza, and because the sky toward the base is open, the fireworks are easy to see, drawing families who come early to claim a spot. Once you have spread out your leisure sheet in the evening to secure a place, wait for the show to start while cooling off with a meal you brought or light snacks from food stalls. As the sun sets, the whole park becomes wrapped in the atmosphere of a summer festival, and you can hear the voices of children running around. As the sky begins to darken, the countdown to the fireworks is finally on.

Tips

Right by Inariyama-kōen Station (稲荷山公園駅) on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Also about a 15-minute walk from Sayama-shi Station (狭山市駅) on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. The earlier you claim a spot, the better, so it is recommended to arrive on-site sometime between 5 and 6 PM. Check the location of the restrooms in the park in advance and use one before the show starts. Inariyama-kōen Station (稲荷山公園駅) gets extremely crowded when heading home, so allow plenty of extra time.
