A beachside park in the Kitahama area facing Beppu Bay (別府湾), adjoining the Kitahama Green Belt (北浜緑地帯), which will be tonight's fireworks viewing area. From this spot, where you can take in the town of Beppu and Beppu Bay at once, you can enjoy the beautiful hours from evening onward as the colors of the sky and sea change moment by moment. As the sun sets, the number of spectators grows, so it is essential to spread out a picnic sheet and secure your spot during this window. The very act of waiting for the show to begin, listening to the waves and feeling the sea breeze, is a scene that feels distinctly like a Beppu summer.

Tips

About 10-15 minutes on foot from Beppu Station (別府駅), or get off right at the Kitahama bus stop. On the day of the fireworks, many people arrive early to claim a spot, so it is reassuring to get there sometime between 6 and 7 p.m. Check the location of restrooms around the venue while it is still light out. Get your drinks and snacks beforehand.
