About this spot

A 10-minute walk from JR Oita Station, this castle ruins park is located in the central area of Oita City and features Oita Castle (府内城), also known as Funai Castle. Stone walls and water moats from the early Edo period remain in good condition, with the tenshu foundation and corner towers reconstructed. The spacious park grounds serve as a gathering place for residents and offer plenty of shade even in midsummer, providing a comfortable space. Looking out from atop the stone walls toward the city across the moats, you can see how the castle town's street layout continues to be preserved today. Since the area around the venue becomes crowded from evening onward during the fireworks festival, take time for a leisurely stroll in the early afternoon. Admission is free and families can visit at their leisure.

2026年8月29日(土)19時30分、大分川弁天大橋上流の夜空に約8,000発の花火が打ち上がります。川の両岸から見渡せる広い河川敷が会場で、川面に映る逆さ花火と夜空の大輪が重なる景色は大分ならではの美しさです。スターマインや大玉がリズムよく連続し、フィナーレの連発は大分の夜空を一気に染め上げます。川風が心地よい夜の大分川で、家族みんなで見上げる60分間は、夏の終わりを飾るにふさわしいひとときです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表で確認を。終了後は大分駅方面の道が大変混み合うため、フィナーレ後は川畔でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめ。足元が暗くなるのでスマホのライトや小型ライトがあると帰路に安心です。

Tips

A 10-minute walk from JR Oita Station, or take the Oita Bus and get off at the "Kenchō-mae" (県庁前) stop. The park is free and open all day. Check the Oita City official website in advance for the interior opening dates of the corner tower. Since sunlight is strong during midday hours, don't forget a hat and water.
