View the Sunset and Emerging Night Lights from the 173-Meter-High Corridor
About this spot
The observation deck at the top of Umeda Sky Building, a unique super-high-rise building with 40 stories featuring twin towers connected at their summit. The "Sky Walk" rooftop corridor at 173 meters above ground is a 360-degree open-air corridor without glass, allowing you to feel the wind while taking in a panoramic view of Osaka. At twilight, the Yodo River and cityscape bathed in crimson light are stunning; as darkness falls, the luminescent stones at your feet glow like stars on the "Lumi Sky Walk," creating a magical night-view spot that has been designated as a sacred spot for lovers. The building's basement features "Takimi Koji," a food court with a retro-Showa atmosphere, so after leaving the observation deck, it's also recommended to wrap up the day over a warm cup of tea while reminiscing about your time together.
Tips
About a 7-minute walk from JR Osaka Station via underground passages; also accessible on foot from the Grand Front Osaka side. The entrance is on the Tower East side, and you'll take escalators and glass elevators to reach the observation floor. Entering 30-45 minutes before sunset allows you to enjoy the transition from sunset to night lights. The rooftop corridor is windy, so don't forget a light jacket.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1.5 hours. Entering 45 minutes before sunset lets you enjoy both the sunset and night lights
