The Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival (なにわ淀川花火大会) is one of Osaka's leading fireworks festivals, held on the Yodo River riverbed (淀川河川敷) between the Shin-Midosuji Yodogawa Railway Bridge (新御堂筋淀川鉄橋) and National Route 2 (国道2号線). Large fireworks color Osaka's night sky one after another, and the shimmer of light reflected on the water's surface envelops the entire venue. Thanks to the open riverbed location, a major appeal is being able to look straight up at the fireworks with nothing blocking the view. Fireworks seen under the clear autumn night sky have a charm quite different from a summer festival. The one hour combining the powerful sensation of the launch sound resonating through your body with the pleasant night breeze off the Yodo River is the climax of this day.

Tips

The event runs from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It will be canceled or postponed in severe weather, so check the festival's official announcement in advance for whether it will proceed on the day. Afterward, large crowds head toward Juso Station and Shin-Osaka Station, so the stations and roads get extremely crowded. It goes more smoothly if you enjoy the lingering atmosphere on the riverbed for a while after the finale and stagger your departure. Since some areas are dark underfoot, it is reassuring to bring a light.
