On Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:30 PM, approximately 2,000 fireworks will launch into the night sky above Sakurai City Shiba Athletic Park. The Onpara Matsuri Festival Fireworks Display is offered to Tsunakoshi Shrine, a branch shrine of Omwa Shrine, for its summer purification festival and is a historic fireworks tradition that has long continued in Yamato. The terrain of the Nara Basin, surrounded by mountains, creates echoing sounds that reverberate through your entire body, giving the fireworks display a powerful impact. The large blooms of flowers bursting against the backdrop of the shrine's forest possess an emotion unique to Yamato—sheltered by mountains rather than open sky or lakeside.
