A national historic park established on the ruins of the imperial palace of Heijo-kyo (平城京), which served as the capital of Japan from 710 to 784. The restored Great Audience Hall (大極殿) stands majestically at 27 meters tall; combined with the vast lawns surrounding it, you can tangibly sense the immense scale of the Nara period capital. Entry is free and you can wander freely, so children can run around safely. There are also the Suzaku Gate (朱雀門) and ruins exhibition facilities to explore, with points of interest scattered throughout. Tips

開催可否や雨天時の対応は大会主催者の公式発表で必ず確認してください。境内は砂利や石畳のエリアがあるため、レジャーシートを敷ける場所を早めに確保するのがおすすめです。終了後は富雄駅行きのバス・タクシーが混み合うため、余韻を楽しんでから少し時間をずらして移動すると比較的スムーズです。帰路の近鉄の最終時刻も事前に調べておきましょう。

Tips

About 15 minutes on foot from Yamato-Saidaiji Station (大和西大寺駅) on the Kintetsu line, or accessible by bus from Nara Station (奈良駅). Comfortable walking shoes are essential due to the park's size. The guidance facility "Suzaku Gate Plaza" (朱雀門ひろば) has restrooms and a café, convenient for a brief rest. Leaving the park around 5 PM allows time for dinner at Nara Station before heading to the fireworks.
