The Tatsutagawa River flowing through Heguri Town is a clear stream known from the poem composed by Ariwara no Narihira: "Even the gods of ancient times never heard of the Tatsutagawa dyeing the water with crimson dye." In autumn, the maple leaves along the riverbanks are beautiful, and during September's festival time, the lush green is refreshingly fresh. Walking slowly along the riverside path, the peaceful landscape of Nara's mountain village unfolds before you, and time seems to flow as if the hustle of the city has been forgotten. After using your feet on the Horyu-ji sightseeing, this is perfect for refreshing yourself and as a pleasant walking course before the fireworks.

The nearest station is Kintetsu Ikoma Line Tatsutagawa Station. The riverside path is unpaved in some sections, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. In the evening, the sun dips low and the water surface glistens beautifully. From here, plan to move toward the fireworks venue area by mid-evening (around 4 PM) for dinner and securing a spot.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. The sound of the river and the green of the mountains refresh you before the fireworks.
