The Multipurpose Plaza of SAKAN Athlete Park Torinoumi (SAKANアスリートパーク鳥の海), the venue for the Tohoku Future Art Fireworks, is a wide-open area facing Torinoumi (鳥の海). Since it sits right by the sea, a cool breeze carrying the scent of salt sweeps through as evening approaches, wrapping the area in a pleasant, quintessentially autumn seaside atmosphere. Arrive at the venue early, spread out your leisure sheet, and once you've secured your favorite spot, have dinner with food-stall fare or snacks you brought along while waiting for the show to start. As the sun sets, the color of the sky shifts moment by moment, itself making a wonderful opening act before the fireworks. Checking the locations of nearby restrooms and exit directions while it's still light will make heading home at night much smoother.
