Witness Approximately 5,000 Spectacular Fireworks in the Night Sky Above the Kitakami River Reflected on the Water's Surface
About this spot
The Ishinomaki Kawazakura Matsuri is held every year on the first Saturday of August and is Ishinomaki's largest summer festival. Approximately 5,000 fireworks launched from downstream of Kaiboku Bridge on the Kitakami River feature an impressive composition that makes full use of the river's wide width, and the beauty of the inverted fireworks reflected on the water's surface is a highlight unique to Ishinomaki. From the riverbank, you can view the launch site directly ahead, and the fantastical landscape created by water and firework lights captivates many spectators each year. True to its name as the Kawazakura Matsuri, the fireworks festival symbolizes the summer of Ishinomaki, a town that has thrived with the Kitakami River, and is a cherished traditional event of the community.
