Kumano Nachi Shrine (熊野那智神社), located in Takadachi Kumano-do, Natori City, is an ancient shrine with a distinguished history, said to have been established in the Heian period through an invitation from Kumano in Kishu. The approach path winding through the dense sacred grove offers continuous shade from tall trees even in summer, allowing visitors to escape the harsh midsummer sun and walk through pleasantly cool air. The grounds are lined with large trees of considerable age, creating an atmosphere that feels like a separate world from the bustle of the city. Known as one of the three Kumano shrines remaining in the Tohoku region, it has long been cherished by local people. 名取市夏まつり花火大会は、震災復興とともに歩んできた名取市を代表する夏の祭典です。2026年8月8日(土)19時30分から20時20分の約50分間、約10,000発の花火が夜空を染めます。震災メモリアル公園付近の広い空間から打ち上がる花火は、遮るものが少ない平野部で見渡しがよく、大輪の花火が低い位置まで広がって目に迫ってくる迫力があります。復興を続ける閖上の地で見上げる花火には、単なる夏の娯楽を超えた重みと感動があります。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間は、この1日のすべてを締めくくるにふさわしい光景です。

Tips

Approximately 10 minutes by car from Natori Station. Parking spaces are available in the surrounding area. Entry to the shrine grounds is free. Since the sacred grove tends to have many insects during summer, applying insect repellent beforehand ensures greater comfort. After your visit, proceed toward the Yuriage area.
