About this spot

The Yuriage (閖上) district of Natori City suffered significant damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake, but thanks to the efforts of local people, both the fishing port and town have been restored. Today it has become a destination where many visitors come seeking fresh seafood. Facilities handling locally-sourced fish, shellfish, and agricultural products are concentrated around Yuriage Port, allowing you to taste Natori's bounty of the sea on the spot. In particular, Miyagi's seafood such as salmon and oysters are exceptionally fresh and can be enjoyed by the whole family. Witness the town's continued recovery with your own eyes and experience it through its local cuisine. This is also an ideal spot to refuel before heading to the evening fireworks venue.

Tips

Approximately 15 minutes by car from Natori Station. Parking is available. Note that nearby restaurants and direct sales shops may close early, so it's best to complete your meal by around 3 PM. On busy days, the area attracts many visitors, so be mindful of valuables and keep an eye on children.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Early afternoon through late afternoon is a relatively leisurely time for shopping.
