One of Miyazaki Prefecture's leading clear streams, the Mimi River (耳川) flows through Misato Town amid rich nature. Along this highly transparent river winding through the mountains, green trees provide a stretch of cool shade even under the summer sun. Simply stepping down to the water's edge and touching the water gives you the refreshing feeling unique to a mountain village. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and a moment to rest your body ahead of the evening fireworks. The beautiful nature along the Mimi River basin is cherished by locals as scenery symbolizing Miyazaki's mountain villages.

Tips

Some spots along the riverbank have unstable footing, so walking shoes are recommended over sandals. Summer sunlight is strong, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. When approaching the river, be mindful of safety in case of rising water levels.

Best time to visit

Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes. In the afternoon, sunlight filtering through the leaves reflects beautifully on the water's surface.
