Kaiwo Maru Park (海王丸パーク), a Sacred Place for Lovers
Flow of the course
About this spot
In the evening before the fireworks festival, the grassy plaza at Kaiwo Maru Park opens up as a viewing area. Once you spread out your leisure sheet and secure a spot, it's time to enjoy the sun setting over Toyama Bay and the sky's colors changing moment by moment. Dusk by the sea has a quiet beauty all its own, different from daytime. The silhouette of the training ship Nippon Maru against the setting sun is also a great photo opportunity. Food stalls and shops open up from the evening onward, so it's a good idea to pick up drinks and evening snacks here. Be sure to use the restroom before it gets crowded right before the fireworks begin.
Tips
Parking lots can fill up from the evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival. It's reassuring to check in advance whether to use public transportation or a shuttle bus. Spots start getting crowded 1-2 hours before the show begins. It can get surprisingly cool from the sea breeze after sunset, so prepare a light jacket ahead of time.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. Enjoy the full transition of the sky's colors from sunset into the fireworks
