View the large flowers blooming in the night sky and fireworks reflected in the castle ruins' moat from the moat's edge
About this spot
The Yonezawa Cooling Water Fireworks Festival is held every August at the moats of Matsugasaki Park, representing the summer of Yonezawa. True to its name "Water Fireworks Festival," fireworks launched toward the moat's water surface bloom large in the sky while casting vivid light on the water's surface, offering double beauty. Viewing the fireworks with the castle ruins' pine groves and stone walls silhouetted against the landscape is a view unique to Matsugasaki Park. The sound of fireworks reverberating through the space surrounded by moats reaches your body with extraordinary impact. Enjoy this summer tradition passed down through the castle town of Uesugi with your family from the moat's edge.

After the event, surrounding roads and the Yonezawa Station area will be congested, so it's recommended to remain in the park and savor the afterglow before departing.
