Yonezawa is the production area of Yonezawa beef (米沢牛), counted among Japan's three great brands of wagyu. The area around Yonezawa Station is filled with dining establishments offering a variety of dishes using Yonezawa beef—steaks, sukiyaki, gyudon (beef rice bowls), and croquettes—at various price points. Since October nights in Yonezawa get quite cold, it is important to warm your body well with hot meals before heading to the venue. Being near the station also makes it easy to travel to the venue, allowing you to depart for the fireworks festival right after eating.

よねざわ戦国花火大会は、上杉氏の城下町・米沢を舞台に毎年開催される秋の大花火大会です。2026年は10月10日(土)18時30分より米沢市営野球場を会場に開催されます。戦国武将が駆け抜けた米沢の地に響く打ち上げ音は迫力満点で、秋の澄んだ夜空に映える花火の色と光は格別の美しさです。10月の米沢は夜間の気温がぐっと下がるため、防寒をしっかり整えたうえで観覧しましょう。戦国の歴史を昼にたどり、夜は花火で締めくくる、米沢らしいクライマックスです。

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表をご確認ください。10月の米沢の夜は気温が10度前後まで下がることがあるため、防寒着・手袋・マフラーを必ず持参してください。終了後は周辺道路と米沢駅が混雑するため、時間差での帰路がおすすめです。帰りの電車・バスの時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。

Popular restaurants tend to get crowded in the early evening on the day of the fireworks festival, so an early dinner around 4:30 PM is recommended. You can also pick up Yonezawa beef croquettes and other takeout items on your way to the venue. From Yonezawa Station to the Yonezawa City Baseball Stadium, it is about 15-20 minutes on foot or a short taxi ride.
