Known for its overwhelming approximately 20,000 fireworks, it is the largest-scale fireworks festival in Yamanashi Prefecture and one of the most prominent in the nation. Wide-format starbursts taking advantage of the Fukkigawa's width and continuous starmine displays fill the night sky, with large chrysanthemum fireworks also reflecting on the river surface creating a spectacular scene that overwhelms viewers. The unique topography of a basin surrounded by mountains reverberates the sound, transmitting deep bass tones through your entire body—distinctive to the Shinmei Fireworks. The approximately 1 hour 45 minute performance of light and sound is the climax of a Yamanashi summer night.

Check the official festival announcement for confirmation of whether the event will be held in case of bad weather. After the event ends, roads around the viewing area become extremely congested. If using public transportation, check JR Shinden Line return times in advance and move with staggered timing to avoid congestion immediately after the event ends.
