The Shinmei Fireworks Festival is held from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, on the Fuefuki River (笛吹川) riverbank downstream of Sangun Bridge (三郡橋). Boasting an overwhelming total of around 20,000 shells, it's known as the largest fireworks display in Yamanashi Prefecture and one of the finest in the whole country. Wide Star Mine displays that make full use of the Fuefuki River's width, along with continuous Star Mine bursts, fill the night sky, and the breathtaking sight of great fireworks blossoms reflected on the water's surface overwhelms all who see it. The basin's terrain, surrounded by mountains, echoes the sound, and the deep bass that resonates through your body is also unique to the Shinmei fireworks. The roughly 1 hour 45 minute display of light and sound is the climax of a Yamanashi summer night.

Tips

Check the festival's official announcements for whether the event will proceed in case of bad weather. After it ends, roads around the viewing area become extremely congested. If using public transportation, we recommend checking the return times for the JR Minobu Line (JR身延線) in advance and moving with a time lag to avoid the congestion right after the event ends. The ground underfoot along the riverbank gets dark after the show, so keep a light on hand.
