Ogase Pond (苧ヶ瀬池)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Ogase Pond (苧ヶ瀬池) is a pond about 2km in circumference, home to colorful swimming carp, and a place that has long gathered local devotion, with folk tales such as the legend of the dragon god passed down. On the day of the summer festival, food stalls line the pond's edge, offering classic summer-festival fare like yakisoba, takoyaki, and shaved ice. In the evening, move to the viewing area by the pond, secure a spot with a leisure sheet, and then pick up your dinner. Since the fireworks are launched from the middle of the pond, you can also enjoy the light reflected on the water's surface.

Tips

Parking around the venue fills up early. If using public transportation, the nearest stations are Mikakino or Rokken on the Meitetsu Kakamigahara Line (please check in advance whether they're within walking distance). Lines at the food stalls get long as it approaches 19:00, so it's a good idea to buy your food early. Check the location of restrooms while it's still light out, too.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. Be sure to enjoy the changing colors of the pond's surface as it shifts from sunset to indigo
